Introductions and Intentions

Introducing the Keilbacks. Greg and Emily (though I can reasonably assume it will mostly be just me). We're 26, married, with no children as of yet. ;) Greg is a Restoration Ecologist, meaning he helps restore native species to farmed or developed land. I'm a Development Director, meaning I swindle people out of their hard-earned money. We don't need to talk about that. We're very involved in environmental/

conservationist/outdoorsy activities - hiking, canoeing, trail running, backpacking, camping, fishing, hunting (occasionally), etc. We serve on the boards of several organizations that mean alot to us and are very involved with the non-profit world.

And our ranch. Well, not quite a ranch as you might imagine, but someday. For now, it's just a 2-bedroom, 1-library, 1.5 bath house on 1 acre, but we're being optimistic. Plus, it has all the hallmarks of a ranch, only on a smaller scale. We have a big front porch, green pastures, lots of trees, a gravel lane, and horses that live across the lane. We just herd cats (and one dog) instead of cows. Is there anything wrong with that?

My intention with this blog is dig a little deeper than all those social networking sites and journal about all the exciting things Greg and I do. At 26, we've already been to more than half of the U.S. states, lived in 3 of them, and had many adventures most people our age don't have. We've hiked over mountains, studied wolves, canoed in the wilderness, survived in a place where it averages 20 below in winter, researched and fought wildfires, ran half-marathons, got married on a dairy farm, and perhaps most daring of all, chose to settle down in our hometown just miles away from our entire family. Any now we're going to try our hand at the "family thing", which will be a whole new adventure.
